One of the most valuable assets inside a company is also one of the least permanent: its collective intelligence.
I was speaking with a security architect recently about BOS. I expected him to challenge us on security. Instead, our conversation went somewhere I had not anticipated.
Three cogwheels
I described BOS using three cogwheels. One represents human judgment, creativity, experience and critical thinking. Another represents AI and the intelligence it can provide. BOS is the cog between those two worlds, helping humans and AI make sense of the business together.
That raises a bigger organizational question.

Where the knowing actually sits
Every day, people make decisions, solve problems, understand customers and learn why certain things work. Much of that context remains scattered across individuals, conversations, documents and systems. When experienced people leave, part of that collective intelligence often leaves with them.
What AI changes
AI gives us an opportunity to capture more of this context and make it useful across the organization. When strategy, workflows, decisions and knowledge become connected, people can understand why decisions were made and AI agents and employees alike can enjoy working with a richer business context.
The consequence worth considering
There is another consequence worth considering. Greater visibility into decisions, responsibilities and contributions could change how organizations work together, particularly where information has historically created internal influence, dependency, or even politics.
